FORT SMITH, Ark. - A woman who hid in a septic tank while police were looking for her was injured when the roof of the tank collapsed as a police officer was standing on top of it.
Police were looking for Brandy Shante Moss, 19, after a complaint about a domestic dispute. A police report said Officer Danny Baker found Moss hiding in the tank.
When Baker stepped on the tank to arrest Moss, the tank collapsed. Moss sustained minor injuries in the Tuesday incident.
Officers responding to the domestic dispute call saw a man and a woman run away from a home to an abandoned home nearby. An officer searched the abandoned home but didn't find the suspects.
Moss was found in the septic tank behind the house. She was treated at a hospital, then booked into the Sebastian County Jail on suspicion of fleeing apprehension and two counts of third-degree domestic battery. She also was held on warrants for contempt and failure to comply with a court order.
