A Decatur man found himself facing additional charges Thur-sday after carrying marijuana into Athens Municipal Court.
Athens police Capt. Marty Bruce said Raphael Rashad Bolden, 21, of 308 Adams Drive, Decatur, was in court on a third-degree receiving stolen property charge. Judge Don Mansell sentenced Bolden to 13 days in jail on the charge.
Bruce said when officer Tom Allen was searching Bolden, he noticed Bolden trying to put something in his mouth. He discovered Bolden trying swallow a $5 bag of marijuana.
"The bag was more than he could swallow," Bruce said. "I don't know what he was thinking when he brought it to court."
Allen charged Bolden with second-degree illegal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor. Bond is $1,000, but Bolden is now serving his sentence on the stolen property charge in Limestone County Jail.
